What is IELTS Indicator?

IELTS Indicator is an online test that test-takers can take from the safety of their homes. Still, it remains up to institutions to determine the suitability of IELTS Indicator for their application purposes. Test-takers are required to check whether their chosen institution will accept the test before booking.

The test is available only once a week and will launch in countries where IELTS testing has been suspended due to the Corona Virus and is available for a limited period while IELTS tests are suspended due to COVID-19.

How does IELTS Indicator work?

The IELTS Indicator exam assesses your English language skills in Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking in the same way as the computer-delivered IELTS exam.

You can take the IELTS Indicator exam on any computer or laptop with reliable internet.

You should complete the Listening, Reading and Writing tests in one sitting, which takes approximately 2 hours and 45 minutes, without a break, just like the real test. Your Speaking test is conducted via Zoom application with an examiner on another day before or after you do the other three sections.

Currently, the IELTS Indicator is only available for Academic IELTS, and you will get an indicative score for each section in addition to an overall band score which will be issued within seven days of taking your test.

It is very important to note that the IELTS Indicator exam is not a substitute for the in-person IELTS test. You may still need to take an in-person IELTS test at a test centre once testing resumes, to meet the requirements of your university or education provider.
